How to break in your Tibetan Singing Bowl mallet
Your new Tibetan Singing Bowl will come with a felt covered mallet, which is generally made of Himalayan hardwood and a surface that is normally a felt leather type material.
When you play your bowl with the singing method, the friction of the mallet produces vibrations resulting in sound.
To start, the mallet will be smooth on both ends, but as you use it, it will begin to develop ‘micro-grooves’ which help grip the rim of the bowl better.
When you receive your bowl it is recommended to play your bowl with the new mallet on a regular basis to sufficiently break in the mallet.
As you continue to play in the singing method with the mallet, you will notice the bowl is easier to play and the sound has improved.
